ATC Short Courses

The Department of Air Traffic Control Management (ATCM)  prepares    students for careers in air traffic control. All the courses in the department use the criteria laid down by the International Civil  Aviation Organization (ICAO) and are regulated by Qatar Civil   Aviation Authority. The courses lead to the award of a College     Higher National Diploma. In air traffic control training, students      have access to a “state-of-the-art” 3-D Aerodrome Control     Simulator which also supports surveillance and non- surveillance training. The course is designed to introduce students to air traffic control procedures, ICAO and its associated regulations, flight navigation, communication procedures, meteorology, human factors, aeronautical information services, principles of flight, and navigation equipment. Upon successful completion of the course, students return to their employers for On Job Training (OJT) program which will lead to a local validation and licensing. Each student receives 1:1 dedicated hours of simulator training. All the instructors have very high experience in both operational and instructional duties and are recruited from the international community.

How will I be taught ?

The Diploma course is for One and half years duration divided into three levels ICAO 051, ICAO 052 and ICAO 053. 75% of the course is practical using state of the art ATC simulators and students have to pass all the examinations conducted by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. 

The program provides participants with the theory, principles and practice of air traffic control in accordance with ICAO’s standards and recommended practices. The program prepares students for careers in aviation with a primary focus on air traffic control. The curriculum develops an understanding of the industry and its career opportunities over the coming decades. This intensive program uses the latest in air traffic controller training equipment.
